Mayor and city council. The mayor and a six-
member city council serve staggered two-year terms and are elected on an at-large, nonpartisan basis. The council meets second & fourth Tues. 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center, 500 Washington. Mayor: Ann Feeney. Council members: Cheri Albertson, Jamie Bollinger, Frank Hammer, Jason Lindauer, Kent Martinez-Kratz, and Joe Merkel. City elections are held annually on the day after the first Mon. in Nov. (Nov. 6, 2007). City residents may register to vote at the municipal offices at 305 S. Main, township residents may register at township halls, and any resident may register at Michigan Secretary of State offices (Chelsea office: 1113 S. Main, 888–767–6424) or online at michigan.gov/sos.
