Historic Manchester. There are several Victorian mansions on Main St., and Duncan St. has an unusual home in the style of a turreted Gothic castle. Riverside homes are along and south of City Rd. Lining S. Adrian St. are older homes built on large lots on a rise above the river. Baby-boom-era housing lines the streets in the east end of town; ranches and Cape Cods there sell for $150,000 to $325,000.

Newer subdivisions. Manchester’s newest subdivisions are Rolling Meadows, off Sharon Hollow near Austin, Manchester Meadows, off Territorial, and Emerald Glen, off Galloway Dr. Deer Valley, at Herman Rd. near Sanborn, and Manchester Woods on E. Main have ranch and two-story homes. All homes in these new subdivisions start at $200,000.

For building sites, two-to-four-acre parcels in Sunfield, off Lamb Rd., are selling for $50,000–$55,000. Wildlife Ridge, at Austin and Noggles rds., offers wooded two-to-three-acre parcels at $60,000–$61,000. Lots on Country Ln. off Sharon Hollow Rd. range from $49,000 to $62,000. Timber Hill, on Austin Rd. just outside of town, has large wooded lots from $179,000 to $219,000. Lots at Walnut Grove East, off Herman Rd., range from $57,900 to $62,000. Lots in the village at Manchester Meadows range from $55,900 to $65,900.

Outlying areas. Sharon Township has a 10-acre lot minimum; buildable parcels sell for $75,000 & up. Freedom Township is home to Pleasant Lake, ringed with small, older resort homes. Close to Ann Arbor and on an all-sports lake, these cottages are highly coveted and sell for $225,000 & up.
