Saline Area Schools
The Saline Area Schools serve Saline and a surrounding area of about 100 square miles. Enrollment for the 20062007 school year was 5,500. Administrative offices (4298000) are at the Historic Union School, 200 N. Ann Arbor St. www.salineschools.com
The school board meets second Tues. 7 p.m. & fourth Tues. 6:30 p.m. at the Union School building. Elections are held annually on the day after the first Mon. in May (May 8, 2007). Trustees serve four-year terms. Trustees: Lisa Slawson (president), Trudy Driscoll (vice president), Paul Hyneck (secretary), Bari Livsey, David Friese, and David Medley.

Career and technical education. Director Jody Gielinski, 4298060. The South and West Washtenaw Consortium provides career and technical instruction and arranges cooperative education, internships, and work experience for high school students.
Special education. Director Neal Elyakin, 4298006. Early intervention, early childhood classrooms for children ages 35 who meet eligibility criteria, county and local teacher consultants, resource rooms, speech and language services, occupational and physical therapists, school psychologists and social workers, and administrative support.
